How is a Dryer Vent Cleaned out?
The steps our technician takes to clean out your dryer vent are:
- Unplug the unit and remove the dryer duct from the wall. Make sure the unit is away from the exhaust duct and then find the dryer vent cap and remove.
- Snake brush is pushed and turned into the duct to clear out debris and blockages.
- The snake brush will go along the corners and turns in the duct to thoroughly brush out the buildup where it occurs most
- We use a vacuum to collect all remaining debris from each end of the duct.
- We attach the vent cap back on and the dryer back to the exhaust duct. We then plug in the unit and you are good to go!
Trust The Professionals When It Comes to Dryer Vent Cleaning.
Dryer vent cleaning and maintenance may seem like a task you can complete on your own but there are a few things you may want to consider. One thing to take into consideration is that your dryer duct may be longer than you realize and you might not have all the equipment needed in order to make sure all of the debris is dislodged from your system.
Some people will even install their own dryer duct and vent — but a common mistake that is made is the material that they use. It’s recommended that plastic tubes like PVC or soft foil tubes are NOT used while reconstructing your dryer vent. These types of materials can cause fires, and most of the time are not up to code with building regulations.
Due to these factors (and plenty others!) it’s highly recommended that our professional HVAC technicians perform your dryer vent cleaning. Our technicians make sure that the cleaning is done properly and that your vent is up to code.
